01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

When the thin, dark curry sauce is poured over a flat bed of rice, the rising aroma of toasted spices sharpens the appetite instantly. The signature dish at Devil Curry in Kita-Senju is its namesake Devil Curry, labeled on the menu as extra spicy. Finished with a dusting of red cayenne pepper, the broth-like curry delivers a piercing heat that builds into a slow sweat. Yet beneath the fire lies a foundation of roasted spice aromas and concentrated savory depth, studded with generous chunks of chicken that keep the spoon moving.

Diners looking for a heartier meal can turn to the Devil Curry Special, an extra-spicy pork variation topped with braised pork belly so tender it yields to a spoon, melting rich meat juices into the spice. For those who want to compare distinct heat levels and flavor profiles, the split-curry option is a staple, letting guests select 2 choices from chicken curry, dry keema, vegetable curry, and Devil Curry. Pairing Devil Curry with the milder, broth-infused chicken curry or the coarse-minced dry keema with coriander allows the qualities of each to stand out in alternating bites.

The drink menu offers welcome relief for a tingling tongue. Alongside the clean-finishing classic lassi, options like mango lassi and refreshing yuzu lassi can be ordered as discounted set drinks. For those who prefer an alcoholic beverage with dinner, Heartland beer, limited-availability Billiken Beer, and highballs are also on hand.

Marked by its green-tiled exterior wall, the shop is compact and centered around counter seating, offering a comfortable setting where solo diners can focus on their meal without hesitation. Centered on lunch service with dinner hours on select days, the restaurant accommodates larger rice or sauce portions and also offers takeout.
